American Association of Independent Bankers Sues Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
The American Association of Independent Social Bankers has filed a lawsuit against the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, accusing it of overstepping its authority. Bankers claim that the new regulations regarding domestic trust cards create legal loopholes that could destabilize the market. They believe that digital enterprises are gaining bank status without meeting capital and liquidity requirements. Rebeca Romero Rainey, the head of the organization, emphasized that consumers must have confidence in the safety of federally licensed institutions. The association previously blocked regulations that would facilitate digital market operations, fearing for the deposits of small banks. Controversies in Washington are exacerbated by personnel decisions related to the World Liberty Financial project, which involves Donald Trump. Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized the Trump family for profiting from cryptocurrencies, pointing to a lack of concern for citizens' interests. Trust licenses, while not allowing traditional loans, enable the management of client assets. Some digital companies, such as OpenReserve Bank, are seeking full banking licenses to avoid disputes.
