Balancer V1 recovery proposal allocates 296.401711 ETH but no immediate payouts for LPs
The Balancer V1 recovery proposal aims to distribute 296.401711 ETH recovered after an August 31 exploit among liquidity providers in 120 legacy pools. Tokens worth approximately 1.39 million dollars at the time of the attack were drained from these pools. The proposal details five ETH returns to the Balancer DAO Multisig from various sources between September 8 and September 16. The 296.401711 ETH recorded as returned does not guarantee full reimbursement, and the proposal does not specify a recovery percentage. Balancer plans to allocate the recovered ETH to each pool based on its share of the total dollar loss at the time of the attack, then divide each pool's allocation among liquidity providers according to their pool-token holdings at Ethereum block 25,872,248. This block precedes the first exploit transaction. However, the proposal lacks a per-pool allocation table and individual payout amounts, preventing LPs from calculating exact ETH payouts. Additionally, claimants must provide digital consent releasing Balancer Labs and affiliated parties from liabilities related to the incident. As of September 20, the proposal remains unvoted and lacks a claim mechanism, leaving the recovery window unopened. The recovery pool is distinct from assets related to Balancer's proposed shutdown, ensuring that recovered funds are preserved for affected LPs.
