Canton CEO Calls for the Crypto Industry to Solidify Applications Against Policy Changes by 2028

Canton CEO Yuval Rooz stated at Token2049 in Singapore that the crypto industry should accelerate institutional adoption to reduce the likelihood of future government reversals on industry progress. He emphasized that regardless of what changes occur in 2028, the industry should develop to a point of "no return." Rooz compared blockchain application opportunities to Uber and Airbnb, noting that these services were widely used before regulatory restrictions. The next U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 7, 2028, which could bring changes in government and regulatory focus. During the same discussion, Binance co-CEO Richard Teng expressed hope that the CLARITY Act would become law to prevent regulatory backtracking and promote institutional market entry. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson believes that legislation will enhance certainty, but the industry should not rely on the passage of this act, pointing out that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have already advanced crypto regulation based on existing authority.
