Chainlink Launches CCIP 2.0 With Enhanced Security for Tokenized Assets
Chainlink has launched CCIP 2.0, an upgrade to its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, on September 28. The new version introduces optional third-party verifiers, faster-than-finality transfers, built-in compliance tools, and more flexible execution options. This upgrade targets institutions looking to move tokenized assets across multiple blockchains while maintaining security and compliance. CCIP 2.0 allows asset issuers to implement their own verification layers alongside Chainlink's decentralized oracle network, enabling banks and regulated asset issuers to add checks before completing cross-chain transactions. The upgrade also features faster-than-finality transfers, allowing users to set different confirmation thresholds for speed-sensitive transactions. Additionally, Chainlink's Automated Compliance Engine is integrated into the protocol, facilitating policy checks within cross-chain workflows. Other enhancements include modular fee components and customizable transaction execution options. CCIP 2.0 aims to address the challenges faced by banks, asset managers, and tokenization platforms in making assets usable across various networks without compromising security.
