China to Phase Out Windows 10 Shenzhou Internet Security Version Ahead of Schedule

The Ministry of State Security of China has ordered certain government agencies to uninstall the Windows 10 Shenzhou Internet Security Government Edition operating system, which was originally scheduled to end support in February 2027, several months ahead of the planned timeline. This operating system was developed by a joint venture between Microsoft and the China Electronics Technology Group, aimed at ensuring that Windows 10 meets the security requirements of the Chinese government. The new directive comes just weeks before a planned summit between Chinese and U.S. leaders, catching some government agency staff by surprise. This early phase-out will further reduce reliance on American technology, aligning with China's trend of gradually eliminating overseas technology products. Shenzhou Internet Security has not publicly responded to this announcement.
