CZ: Global Compliance Adoption of Cryptocurrency is Challenging but Progressing
On August 27, CZ, the founder of Binance, stated at the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference:
"Many countries still do not have a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency, in fact, only a few countries do. So I believe there are indeed people in the government who understand Bitcoin, but they may still be in the minority. Moreover, especially in many countries, the government is managed by older individuals, like the slightly older generation, who naturally adopt new technologies at a slower pace. They also tend to read more traditional news, which often has a more negative view of cryptocurrency, so their mindset is often a bit more pessimistic.
But I do feel a shift happening. I mean, many different leaders and politicians around the world are definitely experiencing this change. No one denies that this is a new technology, and no one denies that they need to adopt it. But sometimes they still hold onto those biases, yet more and more people are explaining to them that this is not the case.
Right now, many people are focused on centralized exchanges, which has typically been the focus over the past few years and last year; many countries are focusing on stablecoins, which is a good thing, as the U.S. lacks clarity in this area, leading to much debate and attention.
Many countries have not built cryptocurrency reserves, and I usually advise them to establish cryptocurrency reserves, which is often better and very important for the long-term development of the country. Many countries also do not issue their own stablecoins; we need to put our national currency on the blockchain so that they can capture liquidity in their national currency while promoting the liquidity of their national currency on the blockchain.
In addition to stocks and traditional financial instruments, many countries are also considering tokenized assets, such as rare earths, real estate, cultural and artistic products, intellectual property, and so on. So there is a lot of discussion in these areas. Many countries are very interested in tokenization because they see it as a way to attract funds into the country or to allow buyers outside their country to purchase these assets. So this kind of discussion is happening a lot."
