Ethereum Supply Increases by 21,125 ETH Over 7 Days
The supply of Ethereum (ETH) has increased by over 21,125 ETH in the past seven days. This is analyzed as a result of the network's fee burn not sufficiently offsetting the new issuance flow. The supply of Ethereum is not determined solely by the issuance amount, as a portion of the base fee is burned when transactions occur. When network usage is high, the increase in fee burns can offset new issuance, while a decrease in usage can lead to a reduction in the burn amount, resulting in an increase in net supply. This structure is related to EIP-1559, which was introduced during the London upgrade in 2021. Supply changes depend on network usage and fee levels, and a decrease in transaction demand can lead to a reduction in burn amounts, increasing the net supply. However, an increase in supply does not necessarily indicate the direction of prices, as the price of Ethereum is influenced by supply levels, transaction demand, staking, spot ETF fund flows, and the macro-financial environment. This figure can be interpreted as an on-chain indicator showing short-term supply and demand.
