Fed Chair Kevin Warsh Signals No Rate Decision for October
Kevin Warsh, the Chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve, has not provided any specific signals regarding the decision on the benchmark interest rate for October. While the market is speculating about the possibility of keeping rates unchanged, Warsh refrained from commenting on the policy direction. At the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings held in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 16th, Warsh stated, "I do not prejudge the rate decision." He expressed a cautious stance, saying, "It is not appropriate to speak in advance about what decisions will be made in the remaining meetings this year." The Federal Reserve is set to hold its FOMC regular meeting on the 27th and 28th to decide on the benchmark interest rate. Although the market anticipates a rate freeze, the possibility of further increases cannot be ruled out. Warsh reaffirmed the commitment to price stability during the decision to raise rates in September, explaining that the degree of monetary policy easing has been somewhat reduced. With no specific signals regarding the policy direction for this meeting, market attention is expected to focus on the FOMC decision at the end of this month.
