Grayscale Highlights Zcash Among 4 Key Cryptocurrencies

Grayscale has identified four cryptocurrencies for digital-currency use in its Currencies sector, highlighting Zcash as having significant growth potential. Zach Pandl, Grayscale's Head of Research, suggests that Zcash could capture part of Bitcoin's market share as demand for private digital payments increases. The four cryptocurrencies included are Bitcoin, Litecoin, XRP, and Zcash, within a sector comprising about 15 cryptocurrencies valued at approximately 1.6 trillion dollars, with Bitcoin accounting for nearly 90% of that value. Litecoin and XRP have positioned themselves as faster or cheaper alternatives but have not significantly challenged Bitcoin's dominance. Zcash's market cap has increased from around 4 billion dollars in March to about 24.27 billion dollars today, representing roughly 1.5% of Bitcoin's valuation of approximately 1.56 trillion dollars. Zcash's unique feature is its provision for private transactions through zero-knowledge proofs, with about 90% of its transactions utilizing shielded transfers by mid-2026. ZEC is currently trading near 1431 dollars, having risen nearly 19-fold over the past year, prompting questions about whether it remains an overlooked challenger or if the market has already begun to account for its privacy advantages.
