Iran and Oman Close to Reaching Navigation Agreement for the Strait of Hormuz

Prefer us on GoogleOn August 3, the United States stated that Iran and Oman are nearing an agreement regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the agreement, vessels entering the Persian Gulf will navigate through a channel close to the Iranian coast, while outgoing vessels will take a route near Oman. Ships traveling back and forth will be required to pay a service fee, with the revenue shared equally between Iran and Oman. U.S. officials indicated that Iranian officials' statements were inaccurate, asserting that any temporary navigation routes in the Strait of Hormuz do not require Iranian approval.
