Lviv to Restore Railway Ticket Offices and Open a Bookstore
The Lviv City Council has approved the restoration of the former railway ticket offices located at 20-22 Akademika Volodymyra Hnatiuka Street. The decision was made during a meeting on August 25. The restoration of the first-floor premises of this architectural monument will be carried out in accordance with an investment agreement, while ownership of the building remains with the city territorial community. The project includes the opening of a modern bookstore with a reading room and space for cultural events. The investor is LLC "Lviv Media Forum Publishing House," which won the investment competition in 2023. In March 2026, the city council extended the deadline for the arrangement of the space by two years and increased the volume of private investments from 5 to 10 million UAH due to the emergency condition of the basement and floor ceilings. The building was constructed in 1911 and has the status of a local architectural monument. The first-floor area of 382.2 square meters was used as railway ticket offices for about 60 years, with the lease ending in the spring of 2021.
