NVIDIA has introduced NVHBM, a custom high-bandwidth memory that utilizes a tailored HBM base die, offering higher bandwidth and lower power consumption. Compared to traditional HBM4e, NVHBM achieves up to a 30% increase in bandwidth per memory stack and a 15% reduction in power consumption. This memory design has been validated with leading memory manufacturers, enabling custom chip makers to bring products to market faster. The increased bandwidth will enhance the throughput of AI workloads, particularly in AI inference scenarios, allowing for a higher number of tokens generated per second. NVIDIA also announced that Amazon's Annapurna Labs will be the first partner for NVHBM.
