OpenAI's Advertising Revenue Reaches $1 Billion Annually, Accelerating IPO Process
OpenAI has announced that its advertising business has reached an annual revenue of $1 billion. Advertising has become an important source of income, alongside enterprise services, consumer subscriptions, and API billing, supporting its estimated valuation of approximately $852 billion and the upcoming IPO. OpenAI began testing advertisements in ChatGPT in the U.S. in February of this year, and "ChatGPT Ads" is now available in over 40 countries, with self-service advertising launched in regions such as India, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa. Ads will be shown to both ChatGPT Go subscribers and free users, covering approximately 1 billion weekly active users. OpenAI emphasizes that advertisements will be clearly labeled, will not affect ChatGPT's responses, and advertisers will not have access to users' private chat content.
