Palo Alto Networks Acquires Console, Q4 Results Exceed Expectations
Palo Alto Networks announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Console and reported better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter. The company reported revenue of $3.41 billion, surpassing market expectations of $3.35 billion; adjusted earnings per share were $1.02, higher than the expected $0.98. Console is a native AI platform designed to help organizations automate complex operational tasks, and the technology will be integrated into Cortex, supporting the creation of agentic workflows using natural language to automatically identify and fix issues. The company did not disclose the specific amount for the acquisition of Console. This quarter recorded a GAAP net loss of $282 million, compared to a net profit of $254 million in the same period last year. For the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, the company expects revenue to be between $3.3 billion and $3.31 billion, with annual recurring revenue for Next-Generation Security expected to be between $9.54 billion and $9.56 billion. As of the fourth quarter, annual recurring revenue for Next-Generation Security grew by 63%, reaching $9.1 billion. The company expects fiscal year 2027 revenue to be between $14.1 billion and $14.2 billion, exceeding the expected $13.79 billion. Gartner predicts that global AI spending will reach $2.59 trillion by 2026, with investments in AI-focused cybersecurity expected to grow from $25.9 billion in 2025 to $51.3 billion, approaching $86 billion by 2027.
