PhotonPay has released an industry research report titled "The Next Payment Infrastructure in LATAM," indicating that Latin America's payment infrastructure is transitioning from local real-time payment innovations to addressing cross-border global interconnectivity issues. The report shows that local fast payments in Latin America have matured, but global clearing still relies on traditional correspondent banks or fragmented local arrangements. Accepting local payment methods is crucial for merchant conversion rates, but managing dozens of independent local integrations poses a significant operational burden. The region should transform smart routing, unified APIs, automated reconciliation, and multi-rail access into a manageable operational framework. The report states that the payment architecture in Latin America will not converge on a single technology but will encompass multiple rails interconnecting fiat currencies, local payment solutions, and digital assets.
