Co-founder of the cross-chain protocol Relay, Jason Maier, stated that the Relay API exposed pending transaction information before execution, allowing MEV arbitrageurs to front-run and sandwich trades routed through Relay, worsening the execution price. The incident occurred between September 12 and 26, primarily from the 23rd to the 26th; arbitrageurs profited approximately $136,000, affecting around 5,600 users, with a median loss amount of $11.88. Relay will pay a bounty of $50,000 to the reporting party Outputlayer and will directly compensate affected users, totaling approximately $312,000.
