Samsung Wallet Adds USDC for U.S. Galaxy Users
Samsung Wallet now supports stablecoin accounts for eligible U.S. Galaxy users, allowing them to buy, hold, send, and receive Circle's USDC on the Solana blockchain. This feature is available on approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the U.S. Users can transfer USDC to other Samsung Wallet users and compatible external crypto wallets without incurring a Samsung transfer fee, although fees may apply from other providers. Additionally, users can send money to qualifying bank accounts in over 60 countries, with varying fees based on destination. Topping up with a credit card incurs a 4% fee, and withdrawals to bank accounts or debit cards also come with fees. New users making a first top-up of 50 dollars or more can receive 25 dollars in USDC. The service is available for U.S. residents aged 18 and older, excluding those in New York, and requires Android 13 or later. Samsung aims to explore stablecoin payments and expand to more markets, pending local regulations.
