Samsung announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event that Samsung Wallet will natively support stablecoins. The official presentation featured USDC issued by Circle, marking Samsung as one of the first major smartphone brands to introduce native stablecoins into smartphones. Samsung product manager Lee Dinham stated that this feature will enable fast and reliable digital value transfers. The initial demonstration showed that the first supported stablecoin will be USDC, which has the second-largest market capitalization. Samsung has not disclosed key details, including whether other stablecoins will be included, the blockchain on which the tokens will operate, the regions where it will be available, and whether it will adopt a custodial or non-custodial architecture. The launch date has also not been specified. This feature is part of Samsung's broader integration of cryptocurrency and payment solutions. As early as 2019, Samsung provided cryptocurrency asset storage through Knox, added hardware wallet support in 2021, and plans to integrate Coinbase services by October 2025, reaching approximately 75 million Galaxy users in the U.S. The stablecoin feature is being launched alongside the Galaxy Card credit card, reflecting its strategy to transform smartphones into comprehensive payment gateways.
