Stripe: Cross-Border Payment Volume of Chinese Enterprises Grows by 48%
Between 2024 and 2025, the total cross-border payment volume of Stripe's customers in Greater China is expected to grow by approximately 48%. In 2025, the total payment volume processed by Stripe is projected to reach $1.9 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 34%, accounting for 1.6% of global GDP. During the same period, the number of startups using Stripe in Greater China is expected to increase by about 30%. Major clients include OpenAI, Anthropic, Moonlight, MiniMax, Luckin Coffee, and Manus. Chinese enterprises are primarily targeting the European and American markets, with the top three target markets being the United States, Germany, and France. Besides North America and the European Union, Brazil is the fastest-growing market for Chinese enterprise clients. Stripe stated that Chinese enterprises, especially AI companies, are becoming an important source of incremental global clients. Approximately 14% of the world's top 100 AI companies are from Greater China, and AI companies headquartered in China are experiencing a payment volume growth rate on Stripe that exceeds the global average. Additionally, from July 2025 to July 2026, the number of enterprises in Greater China conducting subscription-based business through Stripe is expected to grow by over 60%.
