Take-Two Reveals In-Game Currency Structure for Sharkbux

In a SEC filing by Take-Two Interactive Software, the virtual currency "Sharkbux" for GTA VI is mentioned alongside Solana-based meme coin trading. According to the document, Sharkbux is a company-controlled in-game consumable currency that general users can purchase through PlayStation Store and Xbox balances, and it is only usable within GTA VI. Mining or staking is not possible, and free transfers between players are restricted. Take-Two is also preventing cashing out through third-party services. Approved developers or content creators have an exception to redeem Sharkbux for fiat currency. This structure differs from typical on-chain tokens, as Sharkbux operates as a unit of consumption within the game. CryptoSlate reported on August 24 that the supplementary document reviewed the SPL token structure of the Solana blockchain. However, the SEC document itself does not assume a public blockchain-based structure. In the market, small tokens bearing the names GTA VI, Sharkbux, and TAKE2 are moving, and Solflare has labeled "GTA VI Official Currency" as an unverified token. It is important for domestic investors to note that the legal nature of the consumable currency in the gaming company's document differs from that of unverified tokens. Rockstar Games has indicated that the release date for GTA VI is November 19, 2026.
