Trump's Approval Rating Dips Below Water, Democrats Win in Deep Red States
On November 4, a significant shift occurred in Washington's power structure as the Democratic Party secured both the House of Representatives and the Senate, marking a stark contrast to the first two years of Trump's presidency. Voters sent a strong rejection of Trump in the elections. In key Senate states and deep red states, the president's approval ratings remained low. The Democrats won in Texas, Ohio, Iowa, South Carolina, and other states where Trump had previously won by double digits just two years ago, and where he had triumphed in all three of his presidential campaigns. The alienation of independent voters, the return of Latino and young voters to the Democratic Party, along with Trump's failures in economic governance and public concerns about the cost of living, were significant factors contributing to the Republican Party's midterm defeat.
