Ukraine's Beef Exports Decreased by 14% in July

In July, Ukraine reduced its exports of cattle and frozen beef. The export of live cattle amounted to about 1,300 tons, which is 14% less than in June and 34% less than in July of last year. Revenue from exports reached $4.06 million, increasing by 10% month-on-month. The export of fresh and chilled beef totaled 343 tons, which is 23% less than in June. Over the past seven months, Ukraine exported 2,560 tons of such products for $20.41 million, which is nearly 25 times more in physical terms than last year. Frozen beef exports were 1,690 tons, 1% less than in June. From January to July, shipments amounted to 10,930 tons, which is 3% less year-on-year; however, revenue increased by 9% to $49.4 million. The reduction in shipments is linked to logistics issues through Black Sea ports and rising transportation costs. Competition in the global market is intensifying, especially from China, Brazil, and Argentina. In July, Ukraine did not import live cattle, while imports of chilled beef amounted to 15 tons and frozen beef to 124 tons.
