Use of Stablecoins Grew 75% in Bear Market

Cross-border transfers of stablecoins increased by 77.5% in the 12 months leading up to June 2026, reaching a value of $220.3 billion, compared to $124.2 billion in the previous period. Chainalysis reported that the monthly flow of stablecoins rose from $11 billion in January 2025 to $24 billion in June 2026. Despite a 50% drop in the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies, economic activity only decreased by 1.6%, from $9.5 trillion to $9.4 trillion. The average value of transfers was approximately $3,000, related to payments to suppliers and remittances. Chainalysis identified 4,708 new international corridors that mobilized $2.64 billion, although the top 25% concentrated 96.1% of the value. Stablecoin balances remained between $98 billion and $109 billion, representing 22.5% of the total cryptocurrency market. Transfers between individuals within each country grew by 302.9%, with a 377.7% increase in those made with stablecoins, which accounted for 96% of this activity by June 2026.
