Validators for Cashless Payments in Kyiv Marshrutkas Will Not Be Installed Until Martial Law Ends

In Kyiv marshrutkas, validators for cashless fare payments will not be installed until martial law is lifted. They are planned to be introduced within nine months after its cancellation. City authorities and transport operators are seeking ways to establish cashless travel and collaborate with banks. Currently, marshrutkas lack equipment for card reading and connection to the city's automated fare accounting system. Private carriers are taking measures to implement cashless payments by exploring collaboration opportunities with financial institutions. Since October 2022, it has been possible to pay for travel in Kyiv's public transport using a bank card. In May 2023, a contactless payment system was tested on route No. 444, but from July 20, only cash payments were accepted again due to frequent malfunctions of the validators. In the capital's marshrutkas, fare prices have risen to 25 hryvnias.
