Vitalik: The Survival Ability of ETH as a Store of Value is the Primary Indicator
Vitalik posted on the X platform that the primary indicator for holding ETH as a store of value is its survival ability. He pointed out that Ethereum should adopt conservative security trade-offs, including a hash-based security mechanism, formal proofs, and a round count that exceeds known security requirements by three times, while pursuing partial finality. Higher thresholds should be set for precompiled contracts that would expand the protocol's scale and for rewards within the protocol that could be captured. Vitalik also mentioned that multi-signature, Kohaku, 8288, and private-AA workflows can improve the secure holding of ETH, privacy holding, and holding methods that balance privacy and security, while FOCIL aims to ensure that holders can send transactions. Reducing reliance on infrastructure is also part of the decentralized roadmap; he stated that the node synchronization running on his notebook takes less than six hours and occupies one-eighth of the hard disk space. Vitalik expressed that issuing more RWA and native decentralized assets natively on L1, as well as enabling convenient, secure, and trustless conversions between ETH and other assets or using ETH as collateral for other assets, would help enhance the utility of holding ETH. At the same time, the impact of rapid block production on centralization should be carefully assessed. He referred to decentralization and CROPS (Censorship Resistance and Capture Resistance, Open Source, Privacy, and Security) as social reasons for caring about Ethereum, stating that this is a direct source of the SoV attributes of holding ETH.
