Zhipu GLM-5.3 Open-Sourced with New Security Review Clause

By: huggingface.co|2026/08/28 15:09:57

Zhipu has officially open-sourced its flagship model GLM-5.3, which has 744 billion parameters, with FP8 and BF16 weights now available on Hugging Face. The open-source release comes with a new "GLM-5.3 License." This new license is lenient for general developers, allowing them to use, modify, distribute, deploy, fine-tune, and sell the model and its derivatives. However, it imposes additional restrictions on large "model-as-a-service" companies: if a company and its affiliates have a total revenue exceeding $10 billion over a consecutive 12-month period, they must pass Zhipu's security review before commercially using GLM-5.3. Ordinary product integrations of the model's functionality are not subject to this restriction. GLM-5.3 was released two weeks ago, and due to its cybersecurity capabilities exceeding expectations, Zhipu decided to conduct additional security assessments and enhancements before making the weights available. The model now supports self-deployment on frameworks such as SGLang, vLLM, Transformers, and KTransformers.
