By: WEEX|09/30/2026 04:00:00

Today’s Digest

  1. Major equity indexes fell on September 29. The 30-year Treasury yield topped 5.61% intraday, reaching a level last seen in June 2002.
  2. OpenAI is reportedly seeking at least $30 billion at a target valuation of about $1.4 trillion; OPENAI futures spiked and then faded pre-market.
  3. Bitcoin was near $83,500; PUMP rose more than 18% in 24 hours, while LIT fell more than 11% at one point.
  4. Brent crude pulled back to about $96, narrowing the energy premium.
  5. August PCE and ADP employment data are due on September 30; Micron (MU) reports after the close.

1 Crypto Highlights

1)Bitcoin Near $83,500 and Ethereum Near $2,670 as Long-End Yields Cap Risk Appetite

Bitcoin pulled back from the $84,000–$84,500 area, while Ethereum was near $2,670. With the 30-year yield around 5.59%, higher risk-free rates continue to weigh on high-volatility asset valuations and keep majors tied to macro pricing. The spot ETF cost area near $81,700 remains a short-term reference; sticky PCE inflation could limit BTC and ETH’s rebound potential.

Futures: BTC / ETH

2)PUMP Gains More Than 18% in 24 Hours as Platform-Revenue Narrative Builds

Pump.fun launched custom pairs this month, supporting about 93 assets, including tokenized stocks. Daily revenue recently topped Hyperliquid’s at one point, raising expectations for trading activity and fee income. The market is pricing the platform-growth narrative into PUMP, though gains could unwind quickly if activity and fees fail to hold up.

Futures: PUMP

3)LIT Falls More Than 11% at One Point as Order-Flow and Buyback Expectations Ease

LIT weakened as the market read a separate perpetual-product launch that did not use Lighter as a sign of lower incremental order-flow potential, trimming expectations for volume, fees and token buybacks. Robinhood’s existing on-chain perpetuals integration with Lighter has not changed; the move mainly reflects a repricing of potential new business.

Futures: LIT

4)DeFi Lending Tokens Hold Up Relatively Well; AAVE, COMP and MKR in Focus

While rate pressure weighed on majors, lending and governance tokens were relatively resilient. On-chain collateral demand and spread trading provide a fundamental anchor, drawing attention to AAVE, COMP, LISTA and MKR. Follow-through will depend on protocol revenue, collateral demand and liquidation risk, not just a broad market bounce.

Watchlist: AAVE, COMP, MKR
Spot: AAVE / COMP / MKR
Futures: AAVE / COMP / MKR

2 Stock Highlights

1)30-Year Treasury Yield Tops 5.61% Intraday, Pressuring Growth Valuations

The 30-year yield topped 5.61% intraday, its highest level since June 2002, and closed near 5.59%; the 10-year yield was around 5.25%. Higher long-end rates lift discount rates, weighing on technology, small caps and other rate-sensitive groups. The next checkpoint is whether PCE can ease sticky-inflation concerns and “higher for longer” pricing.

Watchlist: TLT, IEFA, QQQ
Spot: TLT / IEFA / QQQ
Futures: TLT / IEFA / QQQ

2)OpenAI Reportedly Seeks at Least $30 Billion; OPENAI Futures Fade After a Spike

OpenAI is reportedly in discussions with investors about a new funding round targeting at least $30 billion at a valuation of about $1.4 trillion. Talks remain ongoing and no deal has been finalized. OPENAI futures spiked and then faded pre-market, trading near $1,628 at the source snapshot, up about 4.15% over 24 hours. Investors are weighing potential revenue growth against the higher private valuation and intensifying AI capex competition.

Watchlist: OPENAI
Futures: OPENAI

3)Oil Pulls Back and the Energy Premium Narrows

Brent fell to about $96 and WTI was near $89. A cooler oil-supply premium prompted profit-taking in energy assets and temporarily eased input-inflation pressure. If crude continues lower, energy’s relative performance could soften; renewed supply risks could push oil and inflation expectations higher again.

Watchlist: XLE, CRUDEOIL
Spot: XLE / CRUDEOIL
Futures: XLE / CL / BZ

4)Memory and AI Hardware Enter Micron’s Guidance Window

With long-end yields higher and oil lower, the memory cycle and AI capex remain key market themes. SanDisk and Micron-related assets advanced in the prior session, but expectations for demand visibility are already elevated. A weaker-than-expected outlook could unwind crowded positioning.

Watchlist: MU, SNDK
Spot: MU / SNDK
Futures: MU / SNDK

3 Today’s Preview

ADP employment data are due at 08:15 ET on September 30. August PCE, personal income and spending, and the final Q2 GDP estimate are due at 08:30 ET. Micron (MU) reports after the close. Markets will focus on inflation persistence, labor-market resilience and memory-cycle guidance.

1)August PCE and ADP Employment — September 30, 08:15–08:30 ET (20:15–20:30 UTC+8)

Consensus expects headline PCE near 3.7% year over year, core PCE near 3.3% year over year and about 0.3% month over month; ADP is expected to show about 70,000–74,000 jobs added. The data could shift rate and long-bond pricing. A hot core PCE reading may push yields higher and pressure QQQ, SPY and IWM; cooler inflation could give long-duration assets room to recover.

Watchlist: SPY, QQQ, IWM, TLT
Spot: SPY / QQQ / IWM / TLT
Futures: SPY / QQQ / IWM / TLT

2)Micron (MU) — September 30 After the Close

Markets will focus on memory pricing, HBM and data-center shipments, gross margins and capex guidance. Investors will compare the outlook with AI-server demand to assess whether the memory rebound can continue. The key question is whether customer visibility supports current expectations.

Watchlist: MU, MUU
Spot: MU / MUU
Futures: MU / MUU
