Cardano's Nakamoto Coefficient at 16, with 2087 Validators
The Nakamoto coefficient of Cardano has been recorded at 16, with the number of validators totaling 2087. The Nakamoto coefficient indicates the minimum number of independent entities that must collude to disrupt a blockchain network, and a higher number signifies a lower risk of centralization. The current figure is not Cardano's all-time high, as there have been instances in the past where it was recorded as 22. On June 24, the Cardano Foundation announced the launch of the Ouroboros Leios testnet 'Musashi Dojo' in the community digest. Musashi Dojo went live on June 23. The Cardano Foundation also introduced the integration with the Pies Network, the transition to Node 11, and the preparations for the Van Rossum hard fork. Hydra is Cardano's layer 2 scaling solution, designed for high-frequency trading and microtransactions. The Nakamoto coefficient serves as an indicator of validator distribution and does not imply a causal relationship with the price of ADA. To assess the decentralization and usage levels of the Cardano ecosystem, one must also consider DeFi liquidity, developer activity, user numbers, and transaction demand.
