Charles Hoskinson Critiques Ethereum's World Computer Concept
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, pointed out fundamental issues with Ethereum's concept of a 'World Computer.' He emphasized that the open blockchain structure does not adequately protect individual privacy and that control over data will become a core competitive advantage in the blockchain industry with the spread of AI agents. Hoskinson argued that the idea of 'one massive shared computer' is flawed and stated that a personal-centric computing environment is necessary. He noted that sensitive information could be exposed for extended periods on open blockchains and expressed opposition to the way personal data is entrusted to a few large tech companies. Hoskinson introduced Midnight, a privacy-focused blockchain linked to the Cardano ecosystem, stating that it aims to create an environment where individuals can directly control their data. He also mentioned plans for AI agents to operate in a virtual environment called Midnight City to test transactions. However, related digital asset prices are showing weakness, with Midnight recently dropping 19.3% over the past week.
