Citi Predicts Fed Will Keep Rates Unchanged in October and December, Resume Rate Cuts in June 2027
Prefer us on GoogleCiti expects the Federal Reserve to maintain interest rates in October, awaiting more data to assess the impact of a 25 basis point rate hike. Subsequently, Citi predicts that the Fed will again keep rates unchanged in December, when moderate inflation data will provide evidence of a slowdown in inflation. Citi also anticipates that as inflation continues to cool, the Fed will resume rate cuts in June 2027.

Bitcoin pulled back from about $87,000 to about $84,000, with Ethereum near $2,680. S&P Global PMI on September 23 ET far exceeded forecasts. The 10-year yield broke above 5.00%, while the 5-year and 30-year touched highs last seen in 2007 and 2004. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq slipped.
