Coinbase Suggests Including Digital Assets in Trump Account Investment Scope

Coinbase President and COO Emilie Choi stated that Coinbase supports the "Trump Account" initiative. The company's Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad mentioned that Coinbase has submitted comments to the IRS, recommending that beneficiaries be allowed to invest in widely traded digital assets or gain exposure to digital assets through funds, aligning the scope of qualified investments with traditional IRAs. Coinbase believes that product-neutral rules will help expand choices, promote competition, and provide more opportunities for young Americans to diversify their investments and accumulate wealth. Currently, the IRS's proposed qualified investments are primarily limited to mutual funds or ETFs that track a broad index of U.S. company stocks, are unleveraged, and have an annual fee rate not exceeding 0.1%.
