French Hill Pushes for CLARITY Act Approval This Year
Congressman French Hill is urging the approval of the CLARITY Act by the U.S. Congress this year. He argues that the current rules from regulators, such as the SEC and CFTC, do not provide sufficient certainty for the crypto sector in the long term. Hill, who is the chairman of the Financial Services Committee, emphasizes that clear legislation is needed to clarify responsibilities and better regulate the U.S. crypto market. He points out the limited time after the midterm elections in November, with only 22 session days left for the Senate. Hill hopes that the proposal, which did not pass the Senate last month, will still be adopted to give the U.S. a leading role in crypto and blockchain technology. The outcome of the elections could influence support for the bill, leaving the future of the CLARITY Act uncertain.
