Goldman Sachs expects that US pensions may sell approximately $33 billion in stocks around the end of September, placing this capital flow in the 98th percentile since 2000. At the same time, systematic CTA capital flows may partially offset the selling pressure from pensions. If the stock market remains flat, CTAs are expected to buy $11.5 billion in stocks globally; if the market rises, the buying scale could approach $30 billion. If the market declines, CTAs may turn to additional selling of $15.8 billion in stocks.
