Park Sang-hyuk: Moving from Digital Asset Institutionalization to Implementation Stage
Park Sang-hyuk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated that discussions on domestic digital asset policies have entered a phase of concretizing how to actually implement the system, beyond just institutionalization. At the 'Block Festa 2026' held at the IFC The Forum in Yeouido, Seoul on the 1st, he emphasized that the stage of digital asset discussions has changed and that a sophisticated institutional design is needed to support the expansion of business in the financial sector. He explained that banks and securities firms are transitioning to the implementation stage of digital assets, and that real-world linked assets and stablecoins are entering the realms of payment and operation. Park stressed that institutional discussions should address specific issues in the business field and that financial institutions need to examine the institutional barriers they encounter while pursuing actual business, as well as the competitive conditions of the domestic market as viewed by global operators. He pledged to do his utmost in legislative and institutional design to ensure investor protection, market stability, and industrial competitiveness.
