River lost 1-0 to Rosario Central at the Monumental Stadium, worsening their football crisis in the third round of the 2026 Clausura Tournament. This result marks the club's fifth consecutive defeat in AFA competitions, a streak not seen since 1911. The only goal of the match was an own goal by Nicolás Otamendi in the 27th minute of the first half, following a cross from Jaminton Campaz. With this result, River finds itself at the bottom of Zone B with no points and out of the qualification spots for the 2027 Copa Sudamericana. Rosario Central, on the other hand, has four points and occupies seventh place. River had few scoring opportunities, highlighted by a long-range shot from Fausto Vera and a missed one-on-one by Lautaro Pereyra. In the second half, River tried to equalize, but goalkeeper Jeremías Ledesma saved several chances. Despite playing with one man down after Emanuel Coronel's expulsion, Rosario Central managed to maintain the lead. River will visit Tigre on Saturday, August 8 at 17:00, while Rosario Central will host Aldosivi on Friday, the 7th at 19:30.
