Russia has started importing gasoline from India for the first time to cover a shortage caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on oil refineries. The first shipment of gasoline was delivered on August 5 from Nayara Energy Ltd. The fuel is transported through a complex logistics chain: from the Vadinar refinery in India to the port of Damietta in Egypt, where it is transshipped onto tankers. Oil processing in Russia fell to 3.6 million barrels per day in July, which is one-third below normal levels. The first batch was loaded on June 18 and arrived in Russia in early August. In July, two more tankers left India, which also transshipped fuel in Egypt. All tankers, except for Garnet, are registered in Russia and are under sanctions from the EU or the US. Russia previously banned the export of gasoline and diesel, increasing imports from Belarus. Fuel imports from South Korea have also begun.
