Second Hacked, Losing 0.75 Bitcoin; User Funds Unaffected
Ark Protocol's project Second disclosed that its servers were attacked on Monday, resulting in a loss of 0.75 Bitcoin of its own funds, approximately $62,300. The team stated that user funds were unaffected and repairs were completed within hours. The attackers subsequently attempted to extract more funds from the project and launched a denial-of-service attack. On Tuesday, Second indicated that the attack might reduce the ability of Bark-based wallets to receive Lightning Network transfers. The vulnerability occurred in the boarding process of the Ark server, allowing attackers to register and exit relevant boards with their own signatures while spending the same batch of VTXO in the Lightning Network nodes. The attackers also attempted to use Bitcoin related to the security vulnerability of Blink Wallet from September 19, but were unsuccessful.
