The Trump Team is Developing a Strategy for Potential Iran Peace Talks
BlockBeats News, March 22nd, according to AXIOS website, a U.S. official and a source familiar with the matter revealed that after three weeks of warfare, the Trump administration has begun preliminary discussions on the next phase and possible forms of peace talks with Iran.
U.S. President Trump said on Friday that he is considering a "gradual end" to the war, but U.S. officials expect the fighting to continue for another two to three weeks. Meanwhile, Trump's advisors are hoping to prepare for diplomatic mediation.
Sources disclosed that Trump's envoys Kushner and Wietelkov are involved in discussions on potential diplomatic pathways. Any agreement to end the war must include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, addressing Iran's high enriched uranium stockpile, and reaching a long-term agreement on Iran's nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and support for regional proxies.
According to other sources, despite messages being relayed between the U.S. and Iran through Egypt, Qatar, and the UK, there has been no direct contact between the U.S. and Iran in recent days. Egypt and Qatar have informed the U.S. and Israel that Iran intends to negotiate, but the conditions are very tough, including a ceasefire, assurances of no future wars, and compensation from Iran.
