Transfer of 9,261 Bitcoins from U.S. Treasuries to Coinbase Prime
The United States government has transferred 9,261 Bitcoins, worth approximately $770 million, to a Coinbase Prime account. This transfer has sparked interest among investors and analysts. The Galaxy Research team found that half of the Bitcoins originated from recovered funds from hackers responsible for the Bitfinex exchange attack, while the rest is related to confiscations concerning the Binance platform. Surprisingly, 2,456 Bitcoins come from previously unknown wallets. These funds have been directed to the U.S. government's deposit address at Coinbase Prime, suggesting new seizures by law enforcement. The American justice system secures digital assets from cybercrimes, and the U.S. Marshals Service has been collaborating with Coinbase Prime since 2024. Large transfers trigger speculation about a potential asset sell-off in the market. In July of this year, the government transferred digital assets worth $297 million to Coinbase Prime. The legal situation surrounding government cryptocurrency resources is changing, and the sale of seized Bitcoins contradicts a regulation issued by President Donald Trump in March 2025, which prohibits their liquidation. Transfers of this magnitude continue to raise speculation regarding the intentions of U.S. authorities.
