Wall Street and Treasury bonds rebound, oil falls 2.4%
Global markets are trading higher, with the Dollar Index at its highest level in seven weeks. The first interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve in over three years and the drop in oil prices have eased selling in the bond markets. The Bank of England keeps rates unchanged, while an increase is expected from the Bank of Japan. Brent crude falls 2.4% to $103.7 per barrel, and WTI crude retreats 1.7% to $100.78 per barrel. The yields on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds retreat after reaching 5%, their highest level since 2007. On Wall Street, the S&P 500 rises 0.83% in premarket, the Nasdaq Composite increases 1.08%, and the Dow Jones advances 0.77%. Shares of Generac rise 41%, UDR 14%, and Omnicom 10%. In Europe, the Euro Stoxx rises 0.67%, reaching a record high. The German DAX increases 0.55% and the French CAC 0.37%. In Asia, the Hang Seng falls 0.44%, the Shanghai stock exchange drops 0.41%, the Kospi retreats 0.04%, and the Nikkei 225 rises 0.53%.
