Zhao Changpeng: AI Will Make Systems Safer, Industry Must Collaborate to Address Escalating Attacks
Binance founder Zhao Changpeng discussed recent hacking incidents during an interview with the Oxford Union, stating that the incidents could have been prevented, as some internal employees did not adhere to basic operational security protocols. He pointed out that attackers spent about 5 to 6 months piecing together their attack chain, using social engineering, interview phishing, and AI techniques to identify system vulnerabilities. Zhao believes that while AI has exposed more security issues in the short term, in the long run, it will make systems safer by revealing these problems. He emphasized that the industry cannot promise 100% security but must unite and collaborate with AI laboratories, law enforcement, and security experts to promote a multi-layered defense system to counter the escalating attacks.
