36% of Americans Ready to Use Stablecoins, Visa Study Finds
Only 36% of Americans are ready to use stablecoins, according to the Money Travels 2026 study conducted by Visa and Morning Consult. The authors of the survey noted that interest in stablecoins could rise to 56% if banks provide fraud protection and deposit insurance. 64% of respondents stated that trust in stablecoins depends on the service provider rather than the blockchain technology. 45% of those surveyed are willing to consider stablecoins if they are offered by well-known financial institutions. Trust in traditional banks stands at 61%, while trust in international payment systems is at 60%. 56% of respondents have never heard of stablecoins, and among those familiar with the topic, many mistakenly believe that their value fluctuates like Bitcoin. 36% of survey participants are wary of stablecoins due to previous experiences with fraud in international transfers. The most common scams include account hacking and fake messages. 24% of Americans have received messages generated by AI, and 44% are concerned about deepfakes. The study was conducted from February 24 to March 2 and covered 2,192 respondents. In June, the transaction volume of stablecoins reached a record $1.79 trillion, increasing by 63% compared to May.
