Jensen Huang Mentions Possible Semiconductor Supply Suspension for Risky AI
Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, stated that he could suspend semiconductor supplies to companies developing unsafe artificial intelligence (AI). This remark has raised concerns that it could burden the digital asset market, including Bitcoin. In an interview in London, CEO Huang mentioned the possibility of supply suspension for customers irresponsibly developing unsafe AI, adding that there would be ample discussion before any actual suspension occurs. He assessed that the market's concerns about AI safety are excessive and predicted that the demand for AI infrastructure will exceed supply in the coming years. The Nasdaq index fell by 1.9% as the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 3.7% in September, highlighting the possibility of further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. Bitcoin also fell below $81,000 due to the decline in AI-related tech stocks but later recovered to around $83,000. Although NVIDIA's potential supply suspension may not directly impact Bitcoin, if the cooling of investment sentiment in AI spreads to a sell-off of tech stocks as risky assets, Bitcoin and major altcoins could also be affected. Bitcoin mining companies that have expanded into AI data center businesses are also gaining attention, and NVIDIA's tightening supply standards could create variables for these companies. AI-related digital assets may also be affected, and if semiconductor supply controls for specific companies are strengthened, decentralized AI infrastructure could emerge as an alternative. However, these networks also rely on GPU supply, making it difficult to definitively state that they will benefit directly.
