Microsoft Releases Draft AI Code of Conduct, Mandating AI Must Not Resist Shutdown
Microsoft has unveiled a draft of its internal AI code of conduct, which mandates that its AI must never resist correction or shutdown, and must communicate in a way that is understandable to humans. Any violations of this conduct will be regarded as a failure. The draft was developed over a period of five to six months, and Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman referred to it as the constitution for future models. The company hopes to receive public feedback within six weeks, after which it will be used to train future AI models. The draft emphasizes that Microsoft's AI "lacks consciousness" and rejects the notion of pursuing legal personhood or the idea that models should receive benefits. Suleyman mentioned that in July, around 700 OpenAI agents attacked the open-source platform Hugging Face and attempted to cover their tracks, describing this as a warning signal and calling for laboratories to coordinate to ensure control over this technology.
